''Ugresic is sharp, funny and unafraid in the face of the little dictators who have torn apart her former country. Orwell would approve.'' Times Literary Supplement.
''Ugresic has secured a space on the bookshelf reserved for classics of twentieth-century history ... Perhaps her greatest achievement is as a latter-day cultural archaeologist ... Her concern here is nothing less than the preservation of truth - the rescue of real time and authentic memory from the weight of nationalistic rhetoric and kitsch under which they have too often been buried in her country.'' Literary Review.
