Hasso Krull

Poet Hasso Krull (born 1964) is a well known figure in Estonian culture, working across a range of literary fields. As a popular teacher and shaper of social thought, he has succeeded in familiarising Estonian readers with recent and contemporary European thinkers such as Jacques Derrida, Georges Bataille, Michel Foucault, Jacques Lacan and Pierre Bourdieu. He also writes on history, politics, art, films and philosophy, and contributes to the periodical Ninnik which focuses on poetry in translation. Krull is primarily known, however, as a poet, most notably with the collection Poems 1987-1991 (Luuletused 1987-1991, published in 1993). His second collection, Jazz (1999) deals with themes of intertextuality, while Scales (Kaalud, 1997) was created together with the photographer Toomas Kalve. Krull's latest collection is Cornucopia (Kornukoopia, 2001).
