Mary Woronov

US writer, film actress, director, and artist Mary Woronov began her career in New York with the Theater of the Ridiculous, and starred in Andy Warhol's films, Chelsea Girls, Screen Tests, Shower, Milk and Hedy Lamar, and Oliver Stone's Seizure. In LA she continued her career with Paul Bartel's Death Race 2000, Eating Raoul, and Corman's classic Rock and Roll High School, earning herself the dubious title of cult queen. Later she directed and wrote for Showtime TV. Her first love has always been painting -- until she started writing books at the age of 50. She lives in Los Angeles with her dog and teaches graduate writing at Otis Collage. Her most recent books include Swimming Underground, My Years in the Warhol Factory (2000), the novels Snake (2000) and Niagara (2002), and Blind Love (short stories, 2004). All are published in the UK by Serpent's Tail.
''If I were a girl, I'd want to be Mary Woronov. Her new book, Snake, is a brutal and sexy romance novel for the criminally insane. She's as scary and funny a writer as Harry Crews or Hubert Selby Jr'', John Waters.
