Mart Valjataga

Mart Valjataga was born in 1965. He studied linguistics at the University of Tartu 1983 - 1992, underwent military service in the Soviet army in 1984 -1986. 1989 - 1990 he studied at Indiana University, Bloomington. Since 1987 he has edited cultural journal Vikerkaar, since 1995 as the editor-in-chief. He lives in Tallinn. Besides poetry translations (J. Donne, W. Blake, W. Wordsworth, S. T. Coleridge, W. H. Auden et. al.) and criticism, he has published two poetry books, the most recent of them Sada tuhat miljardit millenniumisonetti /100 000 000 000 000 millennial poems is a combinatorial machine on the model of Raymond Queneau. He has also published hundreds of individual poetry translations, book-reviews, journalistic pieces, essays and articles on topics ranging from aesthetics to biotechnology.
